Building Projects

Wild Frontier Ecology has the expertise to help with any scale of project involving built development. We have considerable specialist knowledge of bat and barn owl surveys for renovations or conversions, as well as specialist assessment and targeted protected species survey for new developments. We have experience of assessing development on both brown and green field sites. We can also provide the ecology section of the BREEAM and Code for Sustainable Homes assessment.

Project Example

  • Site survey, assessment and mitigation for a large development proposal in West Norfolk. The site was adjacent to a large population of great crested newts, so WFE constructed a newt fence and cleared the site of amphibians and other small animals in preparation for construction. Significant wildlife enhancements were incorporated at design stage.
  • Restoration of derelict barns in North Norfolk. WFE undertook protected species surveys, and worked with the developer to obtain an EPS license after bats were discovered roosting within the barn. A nearby pond was also surveyed for great crested newts.
