Cable, Road and Pipeline Assessments
|
The Wild Frontier Ecology team offers a proven proficiency in surveying for large-scale infrastructure projects. Our Norfolk based ecologists have worked on two lengthy grid connections for off-shore wind farms and their connected substation sites, as well as a gas pipeline. We have also worked ecological surveys for road widening and new road projects. Our record of producing results to tight deadlines is excellent. |

In 2009 WFE completed a range of surveys for the Dudgeon Onshore Electrical Connection. At 45km this will be the longest high voltage subterranean cable in the UK. We conducted Phase 1 habitat surveys on the entire route (over 35 km2), completed great crested newt surveys on 343 ponds, and carried out reptile surveys using 22 artificial refuge arrays along the route. We also undertook the arboriculture survey for this project. Work was delivered on schedule and within specification.

In 2008 WFE worked on the relocation of the A14 (from Ellington to Fen Ditton). Our bird experts conducted a variety of detailed bird surveys, including for breeding and wintering birds, nocturnal surveys for roosting waders and a specific assessment for barn owl.
