BREEAM and Code for Sustainable Homes

Wild Frontier Ecology team members are sufficiently qualified and experienced  to act as “Suitably Qualified Ecologists” as defined by Code for Sustainable Homes and BREEAM guidance. We have extensive experience of using CSH and BREEAM guidance to undertake assessments on housing, school and office developments throughout the East of England. We have the knowledge and experience to propose appropriate ecological mitigation and enhancements for a development, which will not only improve the ecology of the site but will also gain credits under the CSH and BREEAM assessments.

Services

  • WFE has acted as assessing ecologists on a number of BREEAM and ‘Code for Sustainable Homes’ projects, including new schools builds, office refurbishments and a range of housing developments.
  •  Habitat and protected species surveys are often necessary prior to a CSH or BREEAM development. Many of the projects WFE has been involved with have required a general ecological site assessment prior to a CSH or BREEAM assessment being possible. This typically involves a general botanical assessment of the site, together with the identification of any potential protected species issues, both of which WFE is highly proficient at.
  • Our surveys and reports are applicable to CSH and BREEAM assessed projects, as we acheive the high standards necessary to be classed as a “Suitably Qualified Ecologist” as defined in CSH and BREEAM Assessor Manuals.
  • WFE can provide expert advice on the ‘Land Use and Ecology’ section of BREEAM and the ‘Ecology’ section of the Code for Sustainable Homes, both of which are parts of the assessments with almost endless flexibility and scope for innovation.
