Mammal Surveys


Wild Frontier Ecology’s ecologists have a broad range of mammal expertise, particularly in the critical aspects of surveying and mitigating for protected species like badger, otter and water vole. The Director has previously been responsible for the Norfolk otter and water vole conservation project. We also have specialist expertise in red deer ecology, as well as experience with small mammal trapping, radio tracking and mark-recapture techniques.

  • Extensive water vole surveys on the River Wensum SAC, which were repeated at 2 year intervals and  provided valuable water vole distribution data for a mink control project
  • Water vole monitoring on managed realignment sites in Essex for the Environment Agency
  • Overseeing displacement mitigation for water voles on a section of the River Wensum SAC
  • Clerk of works duties at a development construction sites in the East of England
  • Detailed water vole and otter searches for a number of projects involving either new bridges or jetties
