Species & Habitat Surveys

Birds

Our ornithologists can undertake bird surveys for any situation, including vantage point surveys and breeding bird surveys (e.g. Common Bird Census or Brown and Shepherd survey).

Bats

Our licensed ecologists carry out a wide range of bat surveys, from roost surveys for barn conversions and house extensions to large-scale bat activity studies for wind farms and housing developments.

Mammals

We offer specialist protected species surveys including those for badger, otter and water vole.

Amphibians and Reptiles

WFE’s licensed herpetologists can carry out surveys for great crested newts, reptiles and natterjack toads. We also provide mitigation solutions.

Habitats

WFE can offer excellent botanical skills and years of experience conducting Phase 1 habitat surveys and NVC vegetation surveys. We have the botanical experience needed to undertake surveys UK wide.

Trees

Through our associates WFE can provide clients with arboricultural surveys and specialist advice.

Research and Analysis

Our ecologists have research experience throughout the UK and internationally. We can design, execute, analyse and report surveys or experiments for a specific objective or ecological question.

This calendar clarifies the times of the year during which different ecological and protected species surveys should be conducted. Optimal survey seasons are shown in green.
