Susie is an experienced ecologist, with over 16 years at WFE. As WFE’s bat survey lead, she primarily works with a variety of stakeholders to deliver bat mitigation European Protected Species (EPS) Licences for barn conversions and building projects. She has experience of working on a wide variety of structures from churches and stately homes, to individual barns and houses. Susie holds a Level 4 survey licence for bats, and also the Bat Mitigation Class Licence (BMCL). Susie is a trustee of Norfolk and Norwich Bat Group, and in her spare time assists with bat mist netting and harp trapping research projects, and hibernation surveys for the National Bat Monitoring Programme.
Susie is competent in a variety of other protected species surveys. She also holds survey licences for barn owl and great crested newt, and has worked on great crested newt and badger mitigation licences. Susie has botanical expertise and has undertaken habitat surveys and National Vegetation Classification surveys on a variety of sites throughout the UK. Susie has also carried out avian vantage point surveys and post-construction monitoring for renewable energy developments.
Susie is proficient in GIS mapping, project management, data handling and report writing, including the production of Ecological Impact Assessments and Environmental Statement chapters. Susie also holds an ABC Level 2 certificate in arboriculture.
